Ashley is a 2011 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, where she studied public relations. She currently works as a media buyer/account coordinator for the Charleston Area Medical Center Health System in her hometown of Charleston, W.Va. She serves on several community boards, including FestivALL (Charlestons annual arts festival), American Advertising Federation West Virginia chapter, YWCA Young Womens Advisory Group and womanSong Chorale. While at Scripps, Ashley served in various positions in ImPRessions, including Vice President, Operations her senior year, and was an active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Ashley is currently working toward a Master of Public Health degree from West Virginia University.

Melanie Seiser is the Manager of the Major League Soccer National Sales Center. Her career has come full circle back to where she got her start as a trainee at the MLS NSC in 2010. After completing her training at the National Sales Center, she worked for the Columbus Crew as an Account Executive for 3 years. She graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in 2009. Melanie lives in Minneapolis, and spends her free time exploring the gorgeous outdoors of Minnesota.

GSW Worldwide

Sarah Doll graduated from Scripps in June 2011 with a Carr Van Anda degree combining Public Relations and Broadcast News. She is a member of PRSA and currently lives in Columbus. She works in Pubic Relations at GSW Worldwide — where she handles social media, internal communications, video editing and various PR tasks for the global healthcare advertising agency. Prior to her current position at GSW, Sarah was a multimedia intern at News Broadcast Network in NYC and a news production intern with Good Morning Cleveland. Sarah was born and raised in Chardon, Ohio.

Associate Producer at CBS Interactive

Erin Laviola currently works as an associate producer for CBS Interactive in New York City. She previously worked as a morning producer at WBNS Channel 10 in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. During her time at Scripps, Erin was actively involved at WOUB, and especially enjoyed working on Gridiron Glory. While at Ohio University Erin never missed a football or basketball game, and loved cheering from the front row as a member of the O Zone.

Weekend Anchor/Producer (KMIZ-TV)

Evan joined ABC 17 News as the Weekend Anchor/Producer and Jefferson City reporter in September 2011. He graduated from Scripps that June as Overall Outstanding Graduate. During his time at OU, Evan was an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Radio-Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and WOUB. His work with OU SPJ and the Ohio Sunshine Summit was recognized with the 2011 Ohio First Amendment Award. Evan has also been honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences – Ohio Valley chapter, Ohio Associated Press and the Ohio Broadcasters Association. Before moving to Columbia, Evan worked as a web editor and videographer for the Columbus Dispatch. He was born and raised near Dayton, OH.

Senior Saturday: Carolyn Casey LaWell

Content Manager

Carolyn LaWell is the content manager at ORTHOWORLD, where she oversees editorial for four publications covering the international orthopaedic market. She also coordinates education for ORTHOWORLDs annual conference, which attracts professionals from more than 20 countries. In 2012, Carolyn and her Scripps alum husband, Matt, drove 29,273 miles through 45 states to write about all 120 full-season minor league baseball teams on their website, Carolyn started her journalism career as the education reporter at the Rocky Mount Telegram in North Carolina, then worked as an associate editor for several national trade magazines.

Larimore is the managing editor for Slate (, where she’s worked since 2003, starting as a copy editor. She coordinates Slate’s daily and weekly editorial schedule and works to make sure that hit traffic goals on departments that carry dedicated advertising. She also manages the copy desk, helps coordinate special editorial projects and works on non-advertising revenue projects. She blogs a little, as well. She’s been working online since 1999, when she was an associate editor at Before that, she worked as a sports writer for the Wooster Daily Record and the Fort Way Journal Gazette, and as a copy editor for the Seattle Times.
