Clarence Page tells high school journalists to serve their audience

More than 100 High School Journalism Workshop attendees were on campus last week to learn more about their craft and how to serve their readers and viewers.

Clarence Page (BSJ ’69) gave the keynote address Wednesday evening to the 110 students, who come from eleven states. Page told the young journalists that it was at a high school journalism workshop very much like this one that he discovered other people with the same passion and commitment to writing and informing the public.

Page also conducted one of the workshop’s many critique sessions, giving students feedback on their high school work.

He finished out the long day with a session on column writing, which wrapped up at 10:15 p.m., shortly before the student curfew.

The lineup of presenters is amazing, with folks from The New York Times, Deadspin, Slate, The Columbus Dispatch, and many more.
