Research: Globalization, media effects, media framing, media representation and imbalance in information flow. Satrajit’s master’s thesis focused on American media and religious profiling. His thesis, “Media Subdues Public Opinion: With special emphasis on religious profiling and American media,” investigated how the mass media helps to frame the opinions of the audiences. He focused on how the lack of balanced representation in global media have led to an unintended and unavoidable effect on the religious harmony in India.

Satrajit also is interested in film studies. His undergrad thesis focused on the evolution of female roles in Indian Cinema, titled, “Conventional, Courageous, Contemporary: Indian actresses of the New Millennium.” He completed his Bachelor’s degree with the highest distinction, earning a gold medal for his achievement.

Professional experience: Satrajit has worked as a sub-editor for an English daily, Morning India, in Kolkata, a sister newspaper of Sanmarg Jharkhand. He has also worked for several online news outlets, including Indian Minority and India Face Off, and was a regular contributor for Youth Ki Awaaz. He won the Science Reporting Award from All India Radio in 2015.
