Nisha Garud is a Ph.D. student at E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. She completed her master’s in journalism from E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, 2015 while pursing her doctoral courses. She has a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Pune, India and a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication, Indira School of Communication, Pune, India. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Fergusson College, University of Pune.
Nisha has seven years of work experience in the media and in academics. She has worked as a reporter, features writer and a sub-editor at various English dailies in India including, Daily, News and Analysis (DNA), The Indian Express, Maharashtra Herald (now Sakal Times) and The Times of India. She has also worked as a visiting faculty at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Pune, India.
Nisha research interests are online journalism, digital communication, political communication, social media and international public relations. She has presented papers at Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
