Information about the Workshop

The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism’s annual workshop for high school journalism students and advisers is the oldest such program in the nation — perhaps in the world! Every summer since 1946, the school has offered high school students and teachers the opportunity to interact with our faculty and professional journalists while learning the latest techniques for doing journalism in a school setting.

These 1946 Athens Messenger articles from June 20 (left) and June 21 (right) announce the very first program and provide some information about the three-day conference for high school newspaper editors, business managers and advisers.

The student newspaper, The Post, covered 1960s-era workshops as well.
