Welcome to the '08 Workshop!
Journalism is an incredible career and an awesome responsibility. Do you want to be a part of this exciting field? If so, mark your calendar for the 63rd annual Ohio University E.W. Scripps High School Journalism Workshop, July 31-August 2, 2008.
The program is a great opportunity to learn about and improve your news writing, editing, and design skills as well as your news judgment. All activities are held on the beautiful Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio.
About the workshop
Students and advisers will participate in each of the following activities:
- A critique of their own high school newspaper/broadcast program;
- General sessions that will cover topics, such as the First Amendment and Covering School Boards & Politics;
- Special sessions on Online Journalism and Information Gathering; and
- In-class hands-on news writing for print or broadcast.
Students will choose their classes on the registration form. The classes are listed on the registration form and must be selected before the registration is considered complete. Register now.
All classes will take place in the state-of-the art facilities at E.W. Scripps Hall.
Thursday sessions run until 9:30 p.m. and a get-acquainted pizza party follows. Friday sessions run from 8:30 a.m. until 8:15 p.m. with an evening activity following until 10:30 p.m. Saturday sessions are from 9 a.m. until noon.
