ProPublica seeks summer interns
ProPublica is looking for interns to start either this spring or summer. The internships last a minimum of 16 weeks, are full-time and are based in New York. Compensation is $700 per week.
Interns at ProPublica have gone on to work at The New York Times, Bloomberg, NPR, Center for Public Integrity and the Chicago Tribune.
Interns will be part of a team that focuses on writing smart and tough pieces riffing off the news. Here are examples of the kind of explainers and hard-hitting pieces we do. And here’s an article from Nieman Lab about ProPublica’s approach.
If you would like to apply, please send an email to email@example.com with your resume and a note explaining why you’d be a good fit. Also, include two clips and an explainer-type sample post. It should help guide readers through some accountability topic in the news. Here are a few more examples . (If you’ve already done a piece along these lines feel free to include that.) You should also have prior journalism experience.
Please include your clips as attachments—either Word docs or PDFs. No links please. Your application will come into the inbox of several staff members, so there is no need to address it to a specific person.
