Winkler (MSJ ’56) book on Civil War published

H. Donald Winkler (MS, Journalism, ’56) is the author of three books on Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. His third book, Civil War Goats and Scapegoats, was published this year (2008) by Cumberland House.

His other book are: Lincoln’s Ladies, the Women in the Life of the Sixteenth President; and Lincoln and Booth, More Light on the Conspiracy. In September 2008 Winkler was the featured speaker at the "Celebration of Lincoln" at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site at Flat Rock, NC.

All of Winkler’s books have been published since the year 2000. He retired in 1995 after serving 38 years in university public relations, winning 84 national awards, and being inducted into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame. He currently resides in Gatlinburg, TN.
