Opportunity Type: Internship
Opportunity Description/Objective (specific student assignment): Assist in development and coordination of written articles, features, fact sheets and other written products for use on NASA Glenn’s web portal and social media platforms, and distribution to the media. These written products will highlight the research and development activities in the Center’s six areas of expertise, including Earth-based and space propulsion, communications technology and development, power, energy Storage and conversion, and biomedical sciences. The duties and responsibilities of this internship support NASA’s public affairs mission to ’provide for the widest practicable and appropriate dissemination of information concerning its activities and the results thereof,’ and to enhance public understanding of, and participation in, the nation’s space program.
Expected opportunity outcome (i.e. research, final report, poster presentation, etc.): The student will develop a minimum of six (6) written products documenting the people and research of NASA’s Glenn Research Center, under the guidance of a seasoned public affairs professional, and provide a written after-action report/lessons learned at the conclusion of the internship.
Student’s Computer and/or Special Skills: The student should be knowledgeable in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, especially Word and PowerPoint. Practical experience using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as working knowledge of Associated Press Style Guide is strongly desired.
Comments: Student must be 18+ and may be required to travel outside the Cleveland area on an occasional basis.
