Ohio Wesleyan University seeking Social Media Producer
Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus.
Ohio Wesleyan University’s Communications Office is seeking a Post-Graduate Social Media Producer to work full time in the Office of University Communications for a one-year appointment. The position will help coordinate the University’s outreach and presence on major social media platforms. This position includes benefits and will end 12 months after the date of hire.
(include but are not limited to the following):
-Develop strategic program to utilize social media within an integrated marketing campaign to support Ohio Wesleyan’s mission, promote the University’s core brand messages, and engage key audiences.
-Create and curate content for OWU’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and other appropriate channels. Also recommend, produce, and post news, updates, photos, blog posts, and videos on the sites.
-Assist videographers in creating quality and engaging video content and publishing to OWU’s social media channels and website.
-Monitor the University’s social channels, responding to and interacting with prospective students, alumni, parents, and community members. Collect data on social media activity.
-Engage, encourage, and train students, employees, prospective students, and alumni in participating in OWU’s social media program.
-Plan and promote social media campaigns and events using organic and paid media.
-Stay informed of new social media marketing trends and best practices, especially in higher education.
-Coordinate communication projects originated by Student Affairs.
-Write other material for the OWU website and publications.
-Assist with editing and production of OWU Daily.
-Thorough understanding of using social media to support strategic, integrated marketing campaigns
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write concise, creative, compelling messages
-Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills
-The ability to meet deadlines and execute complex projects
-Creativity in the use of technology and experience in working with a team on a marketing strategy that includes electronic, print, and video elements
-Thorough knowledge of Ohio Wesleyan and its students
-Ability to work some evenings and weekend hours
Preferred qualifications include
-Recent graduate of Ohio Wesleyan
-Good photography and video editing skills
