Adams Publishing Group seeking Pagination Supervisor
The Athens Messenger in Athens, Ohio, is seeking a pagination supervisor to oversee the pagination hub for seven regional newspapers. This person will supervise the pagination department, design, proof and correct print pages, as well as work with newsroom editors to ensure smooth workflow of daily content production.
This is a full-time, direct-hire position requiring afternoon and evening hours. Pay is commensurate with qualifications and this company offers a full benefits package.
Required Qualifications :
-This position requires strong organization and time-management skills along with a mastery of grammar, spelling and Associated Press style writing.
-A high school diploma is required although a bachelor’s degree in journalism, graphic design, or communications-related field along with 3-5 years of editing and layout experience is strongly preferred.
Adams Publishing Group of Ohio is looking for a pagination supervisor able to oversee a pagination hub for seven regional newspapers as well as be able to produce high-quality publications themselves. We are looking for a someone who can work fast when necessary without losing sight of accuracy — functioning under often fast-moving deadlines.
The successful candidate must have fluency in InDesign and PhotoShop, possess AP style skills and the ability to work with reporters and editors to meet the demands of a regional readership. Familiarity with Illustrator and previous newspaper experience are preferred.
Work schedule will vary, may include evenings, weekend and holiday hours.

-Can produce clean publication layouts
-Can find the essence of each story and expresses it in headlines, cutlines and various other story elements
-Demonstrated mastery of grammar, spelling and Associated Press style
-Demonstrated ability to recognize news and act accordingly
-Demonstrated organizational skills
-Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment
-Demonstrated ability to work accurately under deadlines
-Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and national news, sports and entertainment and the arts
-Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications-related field or in graphic design
-3-5 years of editing and layout experience at a daily newspaper
