Newsy seeking Videography Intern
We’re looking for a self-starting Videographer Intern who wants to help our growing bureau tell compelling visual stories. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn more about documentary-style shooting and editing. This person will assist our bureau’s videographer in the field and in the newsroom by helping shoot and edit original video, respectively.
-Work with online editors, news staff and multi-media journalists to solicit and gather information, quotes, images and video to curate and showcase stories for digital platforms.
-Enhance digital news content with images, video, graphics, outside links, maps, and interactive elements.
-Assist in the coordination of text and visual content from a variety of sources, including multimedia journalists, correspondents/freelancers, wire services and user-generated content.
-Perform other duties as needed and directed.
Education & Experience/Certifications
-Pursuing BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience in digital or print journalism preferred.
-No experience required.
Skills & Abilities
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Basic Knowledge of DSLR videography and non-linear editing systems.
-Ability to inspire people and encourage teamwork; remain open-minded and flexible to new thinking.
-Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
-Standard office environment.
-Overtime, weekend, and/or holiday work may be required.
-Internship runs June -- August 2017.
-Approximately 15-20 hours a week.
