	The News Wire is looking for a group of journalism students who want to work seriously on a promising new service in the news business. You will learn how to gather information, decide on what may develop into a top story and instruct people on how to stay in touch with public officials. </p>

Job duties include reporting, researching, and fact-checking for TNR and TNR Online stories; formatting articles and blog posts for the Web; and performing occasional clerical tasks. Reporter-researchers work closely with writers and editors, and they have an open invitation to pitch magazine or Web articles. Most reporter-researchers finish their program with a substantial portfolio of clips and have gone on to work almost everywhere in journalism--including TNR itself. Political journalism experience is preferred (but not imperative); fluency with LexisNexis and other search techniques, a willingness to put in long nights fact-checking, and a sense of humor are mandatory. The yearlong job will begin in late summer 2008 and will pay $280 per week (plus substantial overtime, adding up to $320-$350 per week on average) with health care. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The deadline for spring placement for the IHS Broadcast Journalism Internship is December 15.  All placements are paid and provide travel reimbursements.  Last year, interns were funded at CNN, ABC, and Fox News.  NBC will be added in February. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so students (or recent graduates) should submit their application in advance of the deadline if possible.  </p>

The deadline for spring placement for the IHS Production Internship is December 15.  All internships are paid and include travel reimbursements, as well as participation in the Film &amp; Fiction Workshop. There are placements in feature film, documentary film, animation, and more for students with varying levels of experience. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Cleveland Magazine has reopened its search for editorial interns for winter/spring 2008, January through May.  The new deadline for applying is December 4.  The internships are unpaid. (There is reimbursement for parking or a bus pass.) The internships range from 16 to 32 hours a week. </p>

<p>
Duties include fact-checking, researching, writing and some clerical work.  Looking for bright student journalists or recent grads with experience at their college newspapers and magazines. The ideal candidates also have a flair for magazine-style feature writing.  Candidates must live or go to college in the Cleveland area (Akron or Kent included).  Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.</p>

<p>
Cleveland Magazine also hires editorial department interns three times a year:  for fall and winter/spring semesters and for summer. The deadline for applying for summer 2008 is Feb. 15.  </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The South Bend (Ind.) Tribune offers full-time, paid, summer journalism internships.  The internships are designed for college students who are considering newspaper journalism as a career.  Some newspaper reporting, writing, photography or design experience is necessary.  They plan to hire seven summer interns??&amp;#8221;five reporters (news, features, business); one photographer; and one page designer or a graphics assistant.  Interns work 40 hours a week and the salary is $400/week.  The selection process is highly competitive.  Interns hired usually have some experience with a college or community newspaper as well as classroom experience in journalism.  Prior multi-media experience (broadcasting, audio/video editing or Web work) is helpful.  The Tribune is based in downtown South Bend, with bureaus in several nearby counties.  The Tribune is a regional paper, circulating in seven counties in Indiana and three counties in Michigan.  The Tribune is a locally owned morning newspaper.  Circulation is 72,000 daily and 98,000 Sundays.  Interviews will be conducted in South Bend in January.  Most positions require a car so you can get to assignments.  Mileage is reimbursed and the paper helps interns find housing for the summer.  To apply, send a cover letter, resume and copies of your work by December 1. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The St. Petersburg Times is looking for the best and brightest students to join them as interns in Summer 2008 in their newsroom and business departments.  These are full time, paid internships that allow students to gain hands-on, career-enhancing experience.  Internships are available in these departments: News and Web, Advertising, Audience Development, Finance, Operations, and Information Technology.</p>

<p>
Nov. 15 is the deadline for all newsroom summer internship applications (reporting, copy editing, design, and art/graphics).  Feb. 15 is the deadline for all Business departments’ summer internship applications.  April 1 is the deadline for fall photo internship applications. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fleishman-Hillard is an international, full-service public relations firm with headquarters in St. Louis. For 20 years, the Fleishman-Hillard St. Louis office has offered college students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain valuable, practical public relations experience through its internship program.</p>

<p>
The Fleishman-Hillard St. Louis internship program offers three sessions: spring, summer and fall. While at Fleishman-Hillard, interns have the opportunity to work with staff members to develop and execute media campaigns; write news releases, research papers, media pitch letters and other correspondence; participate in new business opportunities; and coordinate events.</p>

<p>
Interns are assigned to work with specific groups and accounts. Practice areas in the St. Louis office are: Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, Marketing, Healthcare and Environmental, Public Affairs, Employee Communications.</p>

<p>
Requirements:</p>

<p>
Applicants need to be at least a B average and must have completed their junior year of undergraduate study, however, recent graduates are preferred. Applications are welcomed from students with concentrations in all major areas, but backgrounds in journalism, mass media, communications, public relations and radio and television broadcasting are given first consideration.</p>

<p>
Compensation:</p>

<p>
Interns are paid on an hourly basis and are competitive within the industry and the St. Louis market. Interns work from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and usually have opportunities for overtime. In addition, the company pays for parking.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The editorial department at Good Housekeeping magazine seeks sharp, enthusiastic interns to assist in day-to-day research, reporting and brainstorming. The candidate must have an eye for detail and accuracy as well as being able to work under deadlines. In exchange for hard work and good effort, you will receive exceptional experience in magazine journalism and an open door of opportunity. Good Housekeeping is willing to work with your schedule, but you must commit a minimum of 16 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship for college juniors and seniors, and individuals must receive school credit. Applicants should specify the term (spring/summer/fall) for which they are applying. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Florida Times-Union is offering summer 2008 internships in one or more of the following areas: copy editing/design, graphics, photography and reporting.</p>

<p>
Applications for internships must be received by Dec. 1. Interns who are selected will be notified on or before Jan. 1, 2008.</p>

<p>
Interns will draw a variety of assignments. Meetings will be held with various editors to discuss problems and progress. Every effort will be made to match summer work assignments with the interests of the interns selected to work on the staff of the Times-Union. Preference will be given to individuals who have held summer internships with daily newspapers in the past and individuals proven interested in a career in print journalism.</p>

<p>
Applications must be made in writing and should include GPA, previous journalism experience and at least two references, one from within the academic community. Clips of past work should be included with the application. Interns must have their own vehicles.</p>

<p>
The intern program extends through the summer months with exact dates of employment to be negotiated. Interns may expect to be in the program for about 12 weeks. The salary scale is as follows:</p>

Completion of first year of college: $375 weekly</p>

Completion of second year: $400 weekly</p>

<p>
Completion of third year: $435 weekly</p>

Completion of fourth year: $450 weekly</p>
